Hazardous Materials & Firearms Insurance Policy

1. Purpose

This Policy establishes requirements for shipments containing hazardous materials or firearms. To ensure compliance with federal and state regulations, protect public safety, and reduce potential financial risks, all such shipments are subject to a mandatory Hazardous Materials Insurance Fee (“Hazardous Insurance Fee”).

2. Reason for Implementation

The Hazardous Insurance Fee was implemented to:

  • Provide additional protection for shipments that carry increased safety and liability risks.
  • Offset costs associated with the secure handling, transportation, and potential claims arising from hazardous materials and firearms.
  • Ensure compliance with regulatory requirements governing the transport of restricted or dangerous goods.
  • Safeguard both the shipper and the carrier in the event of damage, loss, or incident during transit.

3. Scope

This Policy applies to all individuals, businesses, and third-party vendors utilizing our services for the shipment of:

  • Hazardous materials, including but not limited to flammable liquids, corrosives, explosives, compressed gases, and chemicals classified as hazardous under law.
  • Firearms, firearm components, or ammunition.

4. Mandatory Insurance Fee

  • All packages containing hazardous materials or firearms are required to carry a Hazardous Insurance Fee in addition to standard shipping and handling charges.
  • This fee provides coverage against potential loss, damage, or liability specific to these items.
  • Refundable Policy: The Hazardous Insurance Fee is refundable if a shipment is cancelled prior to dispatch or if inspection confirms that the shipment does not contain hazardous materials or firearms.

5. Compliance Obligations

The shipper is solely responsible for:

  • Properly declaring, packaging, and labeling shipments in accordance with all federal, state, and local regulations.
  • Adhering to applicable guidelines issued by the U.S. Department of Transportation (DOT), Federal Aviation Administration (FAA), Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms, and Explosives (ATF), and relevant state agencies.

6. Liability Disclaimer

  • Our company shall not be held liable for fines, penalties, damages, or legal consequences arising from a shipper’s failure to comply with hazardous materials or firearms shipping requirements.
  • Shipments found to be in violation of applicable laws or this Policy may be withheld, returned, or reported to regulatory authorities.
